Governor Rudy Perpich

Rudy Perpich was born Rudolph George Perpich on June 27, 1928 in Hibbing, Minnesota. He did not start speaking English until first grade. He went through high school with easy sailing he then graduated in 1946. For the next two years he served in the U.S. Army. After that he came back and went to college in Marquette University, for dental. He graduated from college in 1954. He then came back to Hibbing to open a Dental Office. In 1955 he served in his first public office on the Hibbing School Board. In 1962 he would go on to win a seat in the Minnesota Senate as a DFLer.[1] He than served as the governor of Minnesota from December 29, 1976 to January 4, 1974, then again from January 3, 1983 to January 4, 1979. [2] He was a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party for both terms.[3] He pasted away on September 21, 1995. He is buried at the Lakewood Cemetery, in Minneapolis Minnesota.2
